Trauma Nurses for new Trauma Ward
Royal Perth Hospital is the leading teaching hospital and the major trauma centre for
Western Australia. We are also the designated Adult Major Trauma Centre for W.A. treating
approximately 70% of the State's major trauma cases with our brand new, purpose built facility
being opened in January 2008.
Our service provides expert emergency and critical care for injured patients and is one of the
largest trauma centres in Australia. Over 4,000 trauma patients are admitted annually, with over
500 of these patients classed as major trauma. This number will increase in 2008 when 95% of all major traumas will be treated at RPH.
A 10-bed high dependency area will be incorporated into the new 30 bed Trauma Ward to
provide intensive physiological monitoring facilities and high acuity care for major trauma
patients. Dedicated Trauma Centres have been shown to have positive impacts on patient
outcomes and survival rates - making this a service that will have a significant impact on
healthcare delivery in W.A.
The RPH Trauma Centre will provide focused holistic care for major and multiple trauma patients.
The Trauma Service team consists of Trauma Consultants, Trauma Fellow, Trauma Resident, Clinical
Psychologist, Social Worker, Speech Therapists, Trauma Case Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Staff
Development Nurse, Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapists.
Opportunity exists for both highly skilled /experienced Nurses, as well as those interested in major
trauma management to work in this state-of-art progressive and professional clinical setting to
provide clinical expertise for the new purpose built Trauma Ward opening in early 2008. Nursing
positions are available for Clinical Nurses, Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses.
