Mental Health Program
The Southern Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Program offers a wide variety of clinical experience within the field of mental health and specialist mental health services. They are comprised of acute and rehabilitation bed based and community outreach services that provide care to a diverse population across the entire age continuum. Staff wishing to work here have great opportunity to experience a broad range of services including acute mental health, emergency mental health, child & adolescent, alcohol and other drugs, mother baby psychiatric service, eating disorders and primary mental health care.
Maternity Services
In 2007/2008 Southern Health was the largest public maternity provider in Victoria.
Maternity care is provided across three sites - Monash Medical Centre (MMC) Clayton, Dandenong Hospital (DH) and Casey Hospital (CH) with a governance framework reflecting multidisciplinary collaboration in the provision of tertiary, secondary and primary maternity services.
Midwifery at Southern Health
Southern Health provides midwives with the opportunity of working to full scope of practice at any of the three maternity sites as a woman’s primary carer, this includes team midwifery (Dandenong and Clayton) and caseload midwifery (Casey Hospital). Midwives working with women requiring secondary, tertiary or quaternary level care practice as an integral member of the multi disciplinary teams.
