Following a recent retirement, a vacancy exists on Norfolk Island for a full-time General Practitioner/Emergency/Hospital Physician to provide health services to the Norfolk Island community
Norfolk Island is an Australian Territory located in the Pacific Ocean; 1400km from Brisbane, 1600km from Sydney and 1000km from Auckland. The 2011 census (Census of Population and Housing – 9 August 2011 – Administration of Norfolk Island) reported a population of 2302. This comprised 1795 residents (78%) and 507 visitors (22%).
The health services on Norfolk Island are comprised of the Norfolk Island Health and Residential Aged Care Service Multi-purpose Service (NIHRACS) and the General Practice Clinic (GPC).
The combined anticipated income for a full-time practitioner is in excess of $350,000.
Hours of work
- The successful applicant will be required to participate in the GPC and NIHRACS rosters.
- NIHRACS: On call 24 hours on a 1 in 2 roster with the other full-time practitioner
- GP Clinic: Minimum 6 sessions per week up to 10 sessions Mon – Fri at your discretion Saturday 1 in 2 roster
- Closed Sunday and all Public Holidays
