Our client is based between Sydney and the Blue Mountains.They are seeking to recruit a Drug & Alcohol Senior Clinician – for their Keep Them Safe Whole Family Team
The Whole Family Team provides coordinated specialist clinical services to families where child protection concerns exist in the context of drug and alcohol health problems, and parenting difficulties. The team follows an assertive outreach model of care and works intensively with families for up to six months.
The philosophy of the Whole Family Team is that the family is the constant in a child or young person’s life. Accordingly, family centred care, in which partnerships are built between families and health professionals, is a core concern. These partnerships are built on trust, respect and valuing the role of the family in the wellbeing of the child or young person. Emotional, social and developmental support are integral components of care.
The Whole Family Team comprises clinicians from a range of disciplines who possess a broad scope of specialist clinical skills. Team members are encouraged and supported to fully utilise their particular training and expertise to meet the needs of families.
The primary role of the Keep Them Safe Whole Family Team – Drug and Alcohol Senior Clinician is to provide substance use specific assessments, clinical treatments, referral and education to family members in accordance with relevant guidelines and literature including the NSW Drug and Alcohol Psychosocial Interventions Professional Practice Guidelines and relevant practices of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Drug and Alcohol Service. The position also involves intensive case management, family interventions, parenting interventions and skills programs as well as group program (therapeutic & diversional).
The position holder will possesses extensive specialist knowledge regarding substance use specific assessments, clinical treatments, referral and psycho-educational interventions as they relate to families of the Whole Family Team.
Tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership and significant clinical experience as follows:
- Occupational Therapy – minimum Bachelor Degree and general registration with AHPRA; minimum 3 years clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting with significant experience working with families or
- Counselling and Social Work – minimum Bachelor Degree and eligibility for membership of AASW; minimum 3 years clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting with significant experience working with families or
- Senior Psychologist – a four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology; or who has qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer, and has full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and 9 years’ experience including clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting and working with familie or
- Clinical Nurse Specialist – Current registration with APHRA – Div 1 Registered Nurse; Post registration qualification in Drug and Alcohol with at least 3 yrs full time equivalent experience working within the D&A speciality field
