The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a Registered Nurse who has responsibility for providing a consultancy service for oncology patients and promoting an oncology nursing service which fosters excellence in clinical, educational, research and professional leadership.

The position is responsible for contributing to quality health care by collaborating with multidisciplinary health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC Oncology is an expert practitioner who, through leadership, facilitates research based clinical practice, which is creative, visionary and relevant to oncology nursing.

Essential Requirement:
1. Current registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post qualification experience, and in addition who has approved post registration nursing/ midwifery qualification relevant to the field of practice.

This new position will be based within Nepean Hospital and will provide a specialised consultation and liaison role for patients within the Emergency Department Nepean Hospital, and support current consultation services throughout the facility, stakeholders and partner organisations. There is a focus on delivering evidence based clinical interventions within
best practice models of care to achieve good clinical outcomes for patients. The position will be expected to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant  has responsibility for the provision of expert clinical advice to, patients/clients, carers and other health care professionals on complex Drug and Alcohol issues and care needs within the Hospital and the Local Health District  Drug and Alcohol Service
