Working Holiday Visa:
New Zealand offers Working Holiday Visa Schemes for people between 18 and 30 years old from the following countries: Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, USA. To some countries New Zealand offers a limited amount of Working Holiday Visas and to some they offer unlimited Working Holiday Schemes. The length of the visa might also vary.
For example the UK:
- There are unlimited places available annually under this scheme to young citizens of the United Kingdom for a stay of up to 23 months
- UK Working Holiday Makers will be able to work for a maximum of 12 months during their stay. This could be with the same employer, in one consecutive period, or spread throughout the two-year period.
Work Visa:
After you have your registration you should apply for a work visa, an endorsement on your passport to allow you to enter or re-enter New Zealand. To apply for a work visa you will need to complete the following forms which can be downloaded from the New Zealand Immigration Service Website www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/ : The NZIS can also be contacted on +64 9 914 4100.
To enter New Zealand on a temporary work permit, you must:
- Be in good health and of good character
- Have a passport that is valid for at least three months past the date you are to leave New Zealand, and
- Be genuine in wanting to work in New Zealand, and
- Have the right visa for your visit
Skilled Migrant:
If you want to move to New Zealand under the Skilled Migrant Category, you will have to meet their requirements:
- You must be in good health
- You must be of good character
- You must speak sufficient English
- You will need to ensure you have occupational registration
- You must be no older than 55 years of age
To be eligible for Skilled Migration you also have to be able to say yes to most of the following questions:
- Have you been offered a job in New Zealand?
- Do you have a tertiary or trade qualification?
- Do you have at least two years’ work experience?
- You will need to ensure you have occupational registration
- You must be no older than 55 years of age
